Course Activities

Reading Questions are due at 8:00 am before every lecture. Log on to Oncourse to take the prelecture reading quiz (under Original Test and Survey). Three reading questions are assigned every prelecture. You are allowed to submit the reading quiz twice, and the highest scores will be recorded on the oncourse gradebook. Reading questions will count toward 3% of the final grade.

Class Participation will involve answering 3-10 questions using radio transmitters (or "clickers"). Your highest 3 scores will be recorded as your grade for each lecture. Clicker question scores will count 3% of the final grade.

Homework Problems are due at 11:00 pm every Tuesday. Log on to the MasteringPhysics Website to work on homework assignments. Ten questions are assigned every week. You are allowed unlimited attempts to input answers to each homework question. Homework scores will count toward 26% of the final grade.

During Discussion Sessions, you will be required to turn in written attempts to set up 2 problems picked by the AI, which will usually involve a hand-drawn picture or a diagram. The diagrams will be graded and count toward 3% of the final grade.

There are 13 laboratory experiments for this class. You are expected to complete all 13 to pass the course. The lab score will count toward 15% of the final grade.

There will be 3 midterm exams and a final exam. Each midterm will count toward 10% of the final grade, and the final exam will count toward 20% of the final grade.
