The list of jobs in the shop was updated, There are several man-days of work left before the insides of the target bos are complete. Materials for the Pb-glass supports have been ordered. Jack Doskow still needs to finish the detail drawings. The field clamp parts are expected to be delivered Oct. 1.
For now, we are switching from the 1/8" to the 3/16" windows for the target box. There was concern that repeated pumpdowns would eventually weaken the 1/8" material, and we don't really need it to be there until actual running starts.
We are looking for an hourly student to help with the wrapping of the mu-metal for the Pb-glass detectors. About 20 applicants have sent in some sort of resume or expression of interest.
We need to be mindful of the cryopump situation. The lower 6-degree pump no longer works. Two others need new displacers. Austic Scientific does some rebuild. It costs $7K for a pump and about $8K for a compressor. One possibility is to simplify the pumps in the G-region now that the chemistry experiment has shut down. There are two pumps there, a helpful feature of one loads up. We could operate with one pump.
