Present: Chris Allgower, Andy Bacher, Jack Doskow, Hermann Nann, Tom Rinckel, Paul Pancella, Ed Stephenson, Anders Gardestig
Meeting came to order at 3:10 pm.
UPCOMING POLARIMETRY RUN
Ed presented a suggestion for staffing the run with Pancella, Stephenson, and Allgower, and asked where others would like to fill in with shifts starting Wednesday. He will use the feedback to draft a complete shift schedule for final comment in a few days.
The schedule is fluid for a couple of reasons. It is still not clear when the vacuum in the Cooler will be adequate for deuterons. And there is a chance that we will lose Sunday to a rerouting of the main building power (necessitated by MPRI). We will plan to run shifts from Wednesday morning to 0800 Monday anyway.
Other preparations are more or less on schedule. We will use our next meeting to brief personnel on standard PINTEX operating procedures, see below.
Jack Doskow arrived and reported on Cooler vacuum. Parts have still not arrived for the cryo pumps which need them. When they do, he estimates half a day's work for him to get them installed and pumping.
Stephenson now has reference data on spin observables in pd elastic scattering which bracket the energy we plan to run. It should therefore be relatively straightforward to calibrate this polarimeter.
TARGET BOX
Jack Doskow presented parts drawings at 1/4 scale for the main welded assembly of the target box. This despite difficulty in printing to larger format printers in the drafting shop. Tom Rinckel will examine these and the overall design as we get closer to sending this out for bids.
MISCELLANEOUS
Anders Gardestig was introduced to the group. He is a post-doc candidate to the local Theory Institute. He has done work which is relevant to our dd -> alpha 2gamma background. He will give a seminar in 2 weeks which will cover this and other topics.
Next week we will meet on Tuesday instead of Thursday, because of the run. We will meet at 3:00 pm Tuesday afternoon in the Cooler data acquisition area, so that PVP can show everyone where things are located and how they work.
The meeting adjourned at about 4:00 pm.
