This year, the theme of Indiana University’s annual ArtsWeek is Art and Technology. IUCF and the School of Fine Arts are collaborating in a unique exhibition of art objects designed in virtual space using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, and realized on IUCF’s 3-D Rapid Prototyping Printer.

| "Teacups" designed by Nicole Jacquard and printed on IUCF's 3-D printer. |
Nicole Jacquard of the School of Fine Arts has been working with the staff at IUCF for the past year to produce intricate art objects designed using mechanical design software and produced on the 3-D printer that builds objects by laying down paper thin layers of inked glue. Several of her designs will be on display, and visitors will also be able to participate in hands-on design classes at select times. Instructors will lead the class step-by-step through the process of creating a simple design in 3-D Rhinoceros and Inventor software, coloring it in Z-edit, and producing the object on the 3-D printer. The classes are free, but pre-registration is required. Click here for a class schedule.
